The program consists of three components that occur in order. ORIENTATION & REGISTRATION : First an interested program participant requests an orientation & registration [O&R] session. Please call the ADAPT staff contact closest to where you live in the county or whom speaks your preferred language to request a telephone or in-person O&R session. During this session which generally lasts about 30-60 minutes, you will learn about the program, its benefits, costs, and how to successfully complete the program. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn everything you need to know to determine if the program is a good fit for you. There is no cost for this service and no obligation to pursue further services after this O&R session. If however, you decide to enroll in the program during or after this meeting, you will be given additional information including instructions on completion of select forms and assessment questionnaires that you can complete at home or in-person with staff assistance. If you wish to enroll in the program at this time, you will schedule an intake session to occur either via Zoom-telehealth or in-person at the site of your choice. INTAKE-ASSESSMENT: During this scheduled appointment, which takes one to two hours, your counselor will review your assessments and forms completed and explore your family history, relationship history, violence or abuse history, and explore your goal(s) for domestic violence treatment. The purpose of this appointment is to better understand your needs and goals, and allow you and the counselor you are working with to become better acquainted prior to starting treatment. During or after this visit, your counselor may recommend additional services which may be useful or even necessary to pursue prior to or during your ADAPT group treatment. Towards the end of this appointment, your counselor and you may review the upcoming group schedule to decide on a group start date if appropriate. GROUP TREATMENT: This is the heart of the program and where partcipants learn strategies to improve emotional regulation and conflict resolution. Group sessions are active and involve weekly assignments, exercises, and participant disclosure. Successful group participation involves active participation and engagement. In light of the COVID19 pandemic, all orientation, intake and group treatment services are offered via telehealth live video conferencing services. Effective 10/11/21, Orientation and Registrations and Intake sessions will also be offered in-person by appointment request. When possible, we are directing all potential clients to call the ADAPT Counselor in the geographical area that is closest to where you or where the prospective client would attend to schedule the initial orientation and registration session (telephone or in-person). Please call today and if you don’t reach staff directly, leave a message with your contact information and allow staff up to two business days to return your call.
